Throughout the teacher education program, the Professional Standards for BC Educators are introduced, examined, experienced, and demonstrated. In EDUC 394, Standards 2, 5, 7, and 9 are emphasized. For your e-portfolio, you will reflect on each of these standards in context to a learning experience in this course. The addition of other standards may occur in other courses, with the same instructor to continue portfolio as an assessment method.

When creating these pages, FOIPPA rules apply (i.e., do not use any specific names of students, staff, or schools; do not use any images of students; do not use any identifying information; etc.) in addition to being in compliance to the Professional Standards for BC Educators (2019). The webpages and blog pages within your e-portfolio need to not only demonstrate your understanding of the professional standard, but also of the standards.

You are making your learning public via this portfolio, at least within the OpenETC community. You are creating a digital narrative of you as a teacher and learner. Consider what information you will share and how you share it.

Success Criteria:

  1. Describe the learning experience.
  2. Describe, what did you learn from this learning experience that you will take into practicum and/or your for future teaching practice?
  3. Describe, why this learning matters and it’s perceived potential impact to student learning, student success, or student achievement?
  4. Describe how this learning experience and what you have learned correlate to the standard and why it matters to the profession.
  5. Add an image, weblink, and/or quote to complement the text, that is also reflective of the learning experience (photos available on Moodle).
